Think spin involves pedalling your legs as fast as you can until you can barely walk, never mind dismount the bike? Or does the thought of a bike conjure up fearful images of near misses with London buses all whilst donning padded shorts and luminous cycling gear? Well think again, because with London’s hottest spin classes, spin has got much more sophisticated as a high-energy, full body workout. Whatever your workout style, we’ve found the class for you in our round up our favourite spin classes in the city.
- If you like dancing… Groove Cycle
Music is the driving force behind Groove Cycle’s classes, where you can shake off life’s stresses, whilst dancing (and spinning) away to the catchiest soundtracks there are. During your workout, the instructors take you through a set of choreography, meaning you’re more focused on your moves than your aching legs. Don’t be too worried about getting those moves perfect though- Groove Cycle’s aim is to let find your individual groove, not only in class but in every day life.
Groove Cycle can be found in London Bridge and Farringdon.
- If you’re competitive… Digme Fitness
Digme Fitness offers an immersive spin experience like no other and if you’re competitive by nature, their stats-driven PERFORM class is the one for you. Set in an arena style studio, their industry-leading equipment and technology allows you to compete against your fellow riders to push yourself beyond your usual limits. Don’t be put off if getting competitive isn’t your thing- they also offer a music-focused BEAT class.
Digme is located in Moorgate, Blackfriars and Rathbone Square (as well as Richmond-upon-Thames and Oxford).
- If you like to exercise body and mind… Psycle London
Psycle’s signature ride classes provide a place to free your mind, connect with your body and be a part of an inspiring community… all whilst taking yourself through a high intensity full-body workout. Whilst we love the clever choreography, what sets Psycle apart is having fun in the process. Riding in unison encourages the mind-body connection and the feeling of unity in the studio allows you to work harder by tapping into that contagious group energy.
Psycle currently has three locations: Soho, Shoreditch and Canary Wharf.
- If you like live music… 1Rebel
In the words of 1Rebel: ‘We don’t spin. We Ride.’ In their 30/45 minute sessions, their Rockstar instructors encourage you through your workout, with weekly themed rides and live music from their house musicians. If you want to take it up a notch, you can also mix it up with a double shot- combining their Ride class with their Reshape. Not for the faint hearted, but guaranteed to leave you feeling invincible.
1Rebel has four London studios: Broadgate, St Mary Axe, South Bank and Bayswater.
- If you like resistance training… Aqua Fit Pro
If you aren’t finding your spin class quite challenging enough, how about turning it up a notch at Aqua Fit Pro? The class combines high-intensity aqua cycling with circuit training, making the most of the water resistance. Your arms aren’t safe however, with the water aerobics section consisting of press ups, dips, sit-ups and much more to work your upper body and give you a total body work out.
Aqua Fit can be found in Canary Wharf, Bond Street, Fulham Broadway and Royal Victoria.
