Your 5 K’s a day… or maybe a week if you are new to fermented foods!
‘Your 5 K’s’ are High Mood Food’s playful way of reminding ourselves of the delicious, fermented foods we can all incorporate into a varied vegcentric diet to benefit gut health. And you can find the ‘K’s’ woven throughout the entire menu at High.
Fermented cabbage. Simply cabbage, salt and microbial activity over time… deceptively simple. Kraut is beautifully tangy and works as a flavour enhancer to almost any dish.
Add some to your High Bowl at lunch, choosing between our Classic Kraut, Purple Kraut, or Curried Coleslaw Kraut which includes carrots, onions, ginger, turmeric + toasted curried spices. Or find Kraut in our signature Biotic Egg Pots, for a protein power snack.
A delicious, organic fermented dairy drink, packed with probiotics. Kefir grains feed on the lactose within milk during the fermentation process, making it easier to digest + lower in natural sugar than other dairy products.
Try a little Kefir poured onto your breakfast bowl, or enjoy one of our Prebiotic Power smoothies made with unripe banana, organic ground flax, vanilla bean, Kefir + unsweetened almond milk. New to Kefir? We’ve always got some on hand to sample.
A fermented tea drink, that’s teaming with beneficial live bacteria. We’re proud to partner with Wild Fizz at High – they have unique flavours, and are the lowest sugar Kombucha brand brewed in London.
Kombucha contains the natural antioxidant properties of organic tea, as well as live bacteria and yeasts that support digestive health.
A Korean-inspired mixed vegetable ferment, packed with ginger, garlic + chilli amongst other powerful flavours. At High we make a classic Kimchi and a Green Vegan Kimchi which is laced with wild British seaweed to emulate the umami depth of the fish sauce and shrimp paste.
Essential as a side to your Kultured toastie!
(KAMUT) SOURDOUGH or in fact all sourdough..!
Sourdough bread is fermented over 48 hours; this process helps to break down the phytic acid present in flour, making it easier to digest and its nutrients more bioavailable; sourdough has a lower GI than other breads too.
Our Kulture toasties include unpasteurised miso butter and Kraut… try with a side of living hot sauce or Kimchi!
