Been feeling a little off kilter this week? It’s all gone a little bit kooky over at ALT/ HQ as we’re well and truly feeling the effects of the super strong Super Blood Moon in Leo. Dealing with our emotions during this vulnerable time can be hard enough, let alone learning to decipher what this special moon even means. No need to worry- we’ve got you covered. Brew a cuppa, sit back and get ready for your mind to be blown as we break down the facts.
WHAT’S SO SUPER ABOUT IT?
This essentially means the Moon is closer to the Earth than normal. Given it spins round the Earth in more of an elliptical path than a perfect circle, its distance from the Earth chops + changes. When a Full Moon is closest to the Earth on its journey, it’s about 14% BIGGER + 30% BRIGHTER than other Full Moons further away. The last moon we saw like this was over 156 years ago! No wonder the effects are that more intense hey?
Just when you thought things couldn’t get more confusing, this has absolutely ZERO to do with the colour of the moon. A Moon becomes ‘Blue’ when it’s the SECOND Full Moon within the same month. This is actually pretty rare, as Full Moons tend to occur around every 29.5 days. January is a pretty epic month as it began with a Full Moon on the 1st, and rounds off with another.
WHAT’S A BLOOD MOON?
Thankfully there’s no actual blood involved. It’s just the go-to-term used when there’s a total lunar eclipse, aka when the Earth passes directly between the Sun + Moon. While the moon falls into the Earth’s shadow, it doesn’t go completely dark- the Sun still shines through, and so we’re left with a reddish-orange looking Moon.
Did we mention it’s a ONCE IN A CENTURY phenomenon too? You heard us. The last time all three components occurred simultaneously was 150 years ago in 1866.
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME?
This is one you don’t have to see to feel the effects- prepare for the energy of this Moon to stick around for the next three days or so. Given that Leo is the sign of creativity, fertility, romance + glamour, this is the time for BIRTH in every sense of the word. And in a VERY showy, bold way. We did mention the glamour didn’t we (!). You sure as hell aren’t going to miss this one, we can guarantee that.
We experienced a pretty epic total solar eclipse in Leo back in August (the 21st to be specific), where many of you may have planted an array of hopes + dreams under the EXTRA charged up moon. Cast your minds back to what it was that you wished for, because those babies are on their way to being born. And boy will they make themselves known. Are you ready? Don’t panic. Follow the below steps and you’ll be revelling in the fruits of the Super Blue Blood Moon of literal dreams.
- BE BRAVE
Leos are known for their epic courage, and are always the trailblazers for a reason. They stand up when most are afraid to. Embrace this trait, no matter if you feel the fear. Step up, have faith and make your move. Whatever’s been stopping you, whether it’s a physical, mental, spiritual or emotional obstacle- cast it aside, jump over it, break it down. Do whatever you have to do and take the leap. Now is the time.
- GIVE BIRTH
As mentioned, Leo signifies fertility. Adopt this in the literal sense or figurative, whichever sits best with where you are in your life. If it’s the first, have the conversation, set up that doctor’s appointment, cut ties with that partner that you know can’t and won’t give you what you want (+ get visualising the qualities in someone who WILL).
If it’s the latter, devote time to the creative project you’ve been putting on hold all this time. It’s all about that new new. Use the force of this Moon to take that first step, and let it’s energy propel you to success.
- EGO VS PRIDE
Simply put, drop you ego but don’t let people walk over you. Own your successes but stay humble and grounded. This will resonate differently with you wherever you are in your own pursuits. For those that are on the shyer end of the spectrum, harness your inner Leo and stand PROUD. Know your worth and make sure others know it too.
If things are going swimmingly for you and you’re more of the outspoken type, it may be time to wind it down a little. Even by 10%. You are wonderful, strong and intelligent- people know that. We often overcompensate when we don’t truly believe in ourselves. Build up you inner strength and awareness of your capabilities and trust that your actions will do the talking and be acknowledged. As a result you wont need to overdo it, and will be able to put your pride to one side.
