We women give our bodies such a hard time and society tends to feed us with distorted messages about what our bodies SHOULD be like in order for us to be able to love it, honour it and celebrate it.
But the truth is our beautiful bodies are SO much more then a physical piece of meat. It is there to hold you and carry you through your life and it is the ONLY home you will live in throughout your whole life. How we treat and think about our bodies has such a huge effect on how we feel about ourselves, our worth, our confidence as women and it also has a big impact on our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing too. It may be time now to start supporting your beautiful body for the magic that it is.
We forget the power of our womanly bodies. We women are sacred and unique. We carry such magic within our bodies that we can create and grow life within us, we ovulate and bleed, we can produce milk and nourishment in our breasts, and we can literally birth a human life from our own body. I mean this is POWEFUL STUFF. We literally have magic within us, sensual, beautiful, creative, alive, expansive magic.
We are so much more than numbers on a scale, weight, a clothe size, a flat or round belly, a slim or rounder frame. Our bodies are the embodiment of our womanhood. So can we celebrate it today…. in all it’s glory!
Here are 3 Powerful actions to take to begin honouring, loving and celebrating the beautiful body you have RIGHT NOW!
1. SEEING YOUR BODY CLEARLY
In a journal or on some paper, I want you to begin acknowledging all the incredible life moments, experiences and challenges that your body has carried you through in your life so far. That if you are here, reading this right now, then I know it has not given up on your yet.
For example: Hours of pushing it on the treadmill.
Decades of dieting and controlling it. Etc etc etc.
2. FEELING THE BEAUTY OF YOUR BODY
Once you have written the list above, now take a moment to let yourself SEE each one these experiences your body has so graciously carried you through without abandoning you yet. Let each and every single one land in your body and your heart. Take a few moments after reading each one and feel what it feels like to acknowledge how much it has been there for you, even if you have not been able to be there for it. Let the feeling of letting these acknowledgments effect you, impact you and feel it in your heart. What does it feel like see how your body has supported you all this time? The most powerful way to create long lasting life lasting change is changing the thoughts in our mind alongside the feeling in our heart and body. So let the action of honouring these life moments within you LAND in your heart and body so that you feel and take in each one.
See how much you can walk around that day with this new feeling inside of you knowing your body has loved you and supported you all this time. And so maybe you can make friends with it more today?
If you have had health issues then can you forgive your body and acknowledge that it has been trying to get your attention. And can you forgive yourself for all the times you may have abandoned it.
3. BODYLOVE MEDITATION
Sit down and take 10min to sit with yourself and your body. Place your hands slowly on each body part – especially the ones that you have struggled with the most. And with your hands on each body part I want you to say to that body part “I love you and thank you for carrying me all this time”. Then let your words land within you before you move on to the next part.
(If you want to do this standing up looking at your body in the mirror then do so too – whatever feels right for you).
4. CELEBRATING YOUR BODY
Now I know this one is going to take courage so take a deep breath. Take a photo of yourself full length if you can, either standing in front of a mirror or ask someone to take it for you.
And post the picture of your full length self (or as much of full length as you can get) on your IG page, or social media page or just put it up on your wall or mirror so you can see it and it can be seen.
Underneath (or in the caption write the following)
My name is….. and today I honour and celebrate my womanly sacred body and I stand in awe of my body today and all that it has gifted me with and walked me through.
List the incredible life challenges, experiences, beautiful moments your body has carried you through, and say thank you to your body for it all.
Even if you were abandoning it, it has not yet abandoned you. And if it is sick or getting sick, are you ready to make friends with it now?
Let the feeling of power, love, celebration in and feel proud of your incredible body for carrying you through all this time.
