Mark your calendars— the 21st June marks the longest day and shortest night of the year, aka summer solstice. There’s never been a better time of year than this to really open up, let the sunshine in and step into your creative power.
This super powerful phase marking of the change in seasons can bring on emotional release, uplifting of moods and a stronger desire to take on new adventure. But like any other time of change, it can also feel overwhelming, so we’ve put together a little guide to help you transition smoothly into summer.
EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM
Rising early, preferably with the sun, is one of best ways to help your body adapt to the new season. Not to mention that dreamy feeling of the sunshine waking you up rather than the sound of an alarm clock. This is also a super easy way to live in tune with our body’s circadian rhythm, and will help you when it comes to winding down by sunrise too.
STOP & CHECK IN WITH YOURSELF
Summer solstice is an ideal time to check in with your goals, mindset and feelings— the seeds we’ve planted throughout winter and hibernation time often begin coming to the surface, so don’t forget to go back and acknowledge how far you’ve come. We can all be a little guilty of running on autopilot, so the change in season offers an opportunity to chart our journeys and make the adjustments + tweaks we need to catapult us in the direction of our dreams.
EAT WITH THE SEASONS
Summer produce is up there with the best. From juicy berries to summer squash and beyond, by switching up your diet to include more seasonal eats, your body will no doubt thank you. Plus, there’s little that can beat weekend trips to the farmers market on a sunny morning— win win all round!
The summer brings with it an abundant source of energy powerful enough to throw us in a multitude of directions. For some, this can feel like a bit much, so that’s where intention setting can prove useful. Think about how you want to use this fresh energy. Where do you want to go? Why do you want to go there? By outlining a few goals, hopes and dreams, you can remain rooted and grounded, all while charging forwards with a clear vision.
