The sun is beaming, I am on a quirky rooftop terrace in hackney with even quirkier colourful stools and 20 sassy ladays wearing all things Pink Soda Sport – what more could I want from a Sunday afternoon? How about Voga?
My invite to the JD SPORTS X PINK SODA event said nothing more than “ a morning of yoga, vogueing fitness and fashion like never before” Voga? A miss-spelling of yoga I thought? Or maybe miss-spelling of vogue? Vogeuing? What even is vogueing… I had to go and figure the whole thing out.
So I turn up to this very on-trend, quirky rooftop overlooking the whole of London and there beyond all the sassy gals donning their Pink Soda gear is a little bundle of cuteness cutting some serious poses. I’m talking Madonna, sassy pants posing . It wasn’t long before I was being a sassy pants (or trying to be) myself.
On the decks was Kissfm’s DJ byrdie playing some absolutely unreal beats and we were off. So Voga, Im talking yoga meets vougueing. You all know what yoga is right? Right? Well vogueing is a highly stylised dance form originating on the drag ballroom scene in 80s New York, involving performing dramatic and empowered poses taken from fashion editorials and Egyptian hieroglyphs. So VOGA – is, you guessed it – A fusion of Yoga and Vogueing. Inspired by Madonna’s 80s hit ‘VOGUE…Strike a Pose’, VOGA is about striking strong, confident and aligned poses to increase flexibility and energy flow and boost confidence and serotonin levels. VOGA combines the breath-synchronised movement of yoga with the expressive moves of the dance class and the flamboyance of a fashionista! Honestly the buzz was amazing and we were all giving it the most sass we could. There were some questionable positions, but that was probably mainly down to my lack of flexibility but all in all such such fun. Not to mention we all looked uber cute in our Pink Soda get ups.
